Jack and Valerie rowe
Since his appointment as the Chairman of the MBL Board of Trustees in 2006, former Aetna Chairman and CEO John W. (Jack) Rowe and his wife Valerie have been leading supporters of the MBL. In 2006, the Rowe Family Foundation gave a record-breaking gift of $5 million, in honor of which the MBL's Rowe Laboratory was named. Additionally, the Rowes have recently given another transformational leadership gift. The newest gift, announced on July 23, 2010 at the kickoff of the public phase of the MBL's Catalyst Campaign, provides $5 million in support of the MBL's new Eugene Bell Center for Regenerative Biology and Tissue Engineering, one of the key initiatives of the campaign. "It is with great pleasure that my wife Valerie and I make this gift to the MBL knowing that it will be used to facilitate groundbreaking research in an emerging field with potential to make a great impact on human health."
